-
The best first step is to book in a consult with your GP to complete a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP). I will then be sent a referral from the GP surgery and get in touch with you to book in an initial session. However, I also welcome being contacted directly to organise an initial session.
-
Generally, the initial session will cover your presenting issues and how you are responding to them. We will also cover your goals for therapy and what approaches may suit you best.
-
This ultimately depends on a combination of what you desire from therapy and what the nature of your presenting issues are. The length of treatment is typically discussed during the initial session together.
-
The type of treatment you will receive will be mapped onto your presenting issues and discussed during the initial session. All treatments utilised are evidence-based.
-
To get the most out of therapy, I encourage all of my clients to be active, collaborative and willing to participate. Therapy does not work when in a passive role.
